Let NJ Great Movers Do the Heavy Lifting
The moving process requires a lot of mental work, but at the end of the day the actual move means you need to put in a lot of physical work, too. Many people think that they’ll go the DIY route to save money, but it’s not always the best choice. Sure, if you have a few boxes it might not be so bad, but moving heavy furniture and boxes isn’t a walk in the park. In fact, a lot of people injure themselves due to improper technique, making the move even more stressful.
Instead of trying to move yourself, hire NJ Great Movers for the labor portion of your move. Our crew comes with years of experience and consistent training to ensure they are up-to-date on the latest safety regulations and best practices. And speaking of our crew, all of them are employees of our company. We don’t contract out our work to a third-party. That’s one of the reasons why we can provide such great quality and service. Everyone from the founder down to the customer service rep is invested in NJ Great Movers.

We Take Safety Seriously
Even before the COVID mandates, safety was always our top priority. Of course, while all of the mandates have been lifted, we continue to practice the same safety measures in order to keep our employees and customers safe. All of our movers have received their vaccinations and boosters and we can present a card on site if requested. We also offer generous sick leave for our crew so if they are not feeling well, we send them home immediately. In addition, we also take the following precautions:
- Daily sanitization of trucks
- Disposable gloves and hand sanitizers for each move
- Training and alerts with updates on the latest federal and state mandates
Of course, it’s not just COVID or other viruses we need to worry about. Moving is a very manual job and can easily lead to injuries if not done properly. That’s why we supply our movers with high quality equipment to make their job easier and, of course, training on proper lifting techniques.

Our Basic Moving Service
Not everyone needs all the bells and whistles when it comes to hiring professional movers. Sometimes, you just need someone to help get your belongings from point A to point B. That’s what NJ Great Movers is here for. Our professional NJ moving crew can move everything with ease. Moving a piano? No problem! Need help disassembling a table? We’ve got you covered.
Our residential moves are our most popular service. We have been in the business since 2011 so we’ve pretty much moved everything you can imagine from jacuzzis to delicate china. Of course, we make sure to treat everything with the utmost care. Our goal is to make your move easier, not make you more stressed! The best way to make sure everything gets to your new place in one piece is to give us a detailed breakdown and inventory of everything you’re moving as well as labeling boxes with fragile items. If you have any questions or concerns during the process, we’re more than happy to answer them.
When you hire us for your move, we do our best to go above and beyond what many other movers might label a basic move. Of course, we load and unload your boxes, but we don’t just toss everything into our truck. We strategically place items to minimize damage during transit and take special care of boxes labeled fragile. But that’s just the basics. Our moving service also includes:
- Two free wardrobe box rentals for your hanging clothes
- Mattress covers
- All necessary tools and supplies
- Wall and floor protectors
- Basic disassembly and reassembly
- Uninstallation of window AC units
- Dismounting of TVs
- Boxes/packing of oddly shaped items like boxes and glass countertops.
Of course, there are other benefits when you work with us. We take our job very seriously. That’s why we invest in the best tools of the trade. Our trucks are constantly maintained and inspected to meet industry standards. And, of course, we invest in our people!

Packing Tips
We want to make your move as easy as possible. Even if you can’t afford our packing service, the tips below can transform the packing process from a chore to a more palatable experience. Our expert packers have compiled a list of tips below to help you out.
-
1Buy more materials than you think you need
it’s a common issue we’ve seen during our moves. Our customers run out of boxes during the packing process and either have to buy some last-minute or ask us to pack up whatever is left. If you think you only need 10 boxes, buy 15. Even if you have some leftover boxes you end up not using, it’s better than realizing too late you need extras.
-
2Don’t overstuff your boxes
You should always leave some space inside all of your boxes for a few reasons. First, it can make the box heavier, which can lead to the box breaking during the loading or unloading process. Second, it can reduce the durability of the box leading to tears. Fill a box about ¾ of the way and then fill in the remaining empty space with packing paper or bubble wrap.
-
3Pack lesser-used items first
if you’re packing yourself you’ll want to space the process over several days or weeks depending on how much time you have after work. Since you’ll still need access to things like your plates, kitchenware, etc. during this process you’ll want to pack away all non-essentials first. Start with places like your guest room, attic, garage, etc. and then slowly work your way up to your bedroom, kitchen, and so on.
-
4Make an inventory
whatever moving company you work with will likely request an inventory from you, but even if you’re planning a DIY move, it’s still useful to have. An inventory allows you to keep track of everything you own so you can immediately see if something is missing. In addition to a written inventory, take pictures of all your valuable and fragile items to have visual evidence of their condition before the move.
-
5Properly wrap fragile and sharp items
While you can use bubble wrap, if you don’t want to spend more money on supplies, you can use items like blankets, clothes, and towels. The downside of that is if something does break, you’ll have to deal with broken bits in your clothes and sheets.
-
6Leave your clothes on hangers
there’s no reason to take your hanging clothes off the hanger. Keep them on to make life easier after and either place them in tall boxes or cover them with trash bags. NJ Great Movers provides 2 free wardrobe box rentals for your hanging clothes.
