Moving to Monmouth
While 30 percent of Monmouth County is comprised of water, it’s still the fifth most populous county in New Jersey, and that’s because it is part of the Jersey Shore region. Its access to the NJ coastline has made it a popular tourist destination for people across the northeast during the summer months. And its proximity to NYC and New Brunswick make it a perfect commuter town.
Of course, if you live in the area, you might not want to partake in the Jersey Shore, but you’d be doing yourself a disservice. There are plenty of stretches where the beaches aren’t too crowded, you might just have to walk a little bit. On top of that, the beaches tend to be much emptier during the off-season. Otherwise, head to Red Bank or Freehold Borough and enjoy the quaint downtown areas for some local shops and eats. During the summer there are even local festivals you can attend.
For some kid friendly options, you can check out Silverball Retro Arcade if you want to enjoy some classic pinball and arcade games. You can stop in there before or after visiting The Premier Theatre Company for some amazing live theater action. Or, if you want to test your luck, head to Monmouth Racetrack. You can bet on some horses and partake in some family-friendly festivals during the summer time. Otherwise, you can head tot he Keansburg Amusement park for some more wholesome fun.
