Moving to Camden
When people hear Camden, they are likely thinking about the city of Camden, which just so happens to be the seat of Camden County. While the city of Camden gets a bad rap, it has been improving over the years. Camden County borders Philadelphia, making it a perfect location if you want to live the commuter life. It is the 9th most populous county in New Jersey with Cherry Hill being the most populous location.
Camden County is a great place if you want to raise a family as it has multiple public school options for primary education and is home to the Rutgers-Camden campus. As you might expect, the biggest employee in the area is Rutgers, but even if you don’t want to work at the university, there are plenty of other options available including various wineries, hospitals, and more.
Despite being relatively small, Camden County has a lot to offer. It is home to the Ritz Theater which still hosts various theater performances and film festivals. You can also listen to the local symphony group called Symphony in C, which performs on the campus of Rutgers University-Camden. And there’s also the Scottish Rite Auditorium which hosts national music and theater performances, but, more importantly, was recognized by the American Institute of Architects as one of the best Buildings and Places in New Jersey.
The area also has some great wineries, breweries, and distilleries that you can visit and tour. Head to Flying Fish Brewery for some great beer options or go to Amalthea Cellars if you’re more of a wine person. If you’d rather just enjoy the outdoors you can head to the Great Egg Harbor Scenic and Recreational River for some hiking trails and fishing.
