Moving to Middlesex
Middlesex County is the third most populous county in New Jersey and, as such, has a lot to offer. Plus, thanks to its close proximity to NYC, you still have easy access to everything the city has to offer without having to pay NYC rent. And while you can certainly commute, there are plenty of job opportunities in the area, especially if you work in higher education as the main Rutgers campus is in New Brunswick.
Speaking of New Brunswick, the city is not only home to Rutgers, it is also the county seat and a center for the sciences, arts, and cultural activities. If there’s anything you want to do or so or eat, then you definitely want to live nearby. With that said, the entire county has plenty to offer everyone. Check out some of the local artists at the various galleries dotted around the county or visit the Historic Wicoff House Museum for some history and free classes.
For outdoor enthusiasts, head over to one of the many parks that offer beautiful hiking and camping options at Thompson Park or Davidson Mill Pond Country Park for two miles of easy trails. Or head over to Thomas Edison Center and enjoy the 36-acre park after viewing Edison’s original artifacts on display including the phonograph.
