1Buy more supplies than you need
Moving boxes fill up quickly. While you might be able to get away with stuffing some boxes to the brim you want to avoid doing so with any items heavier than towels. The more you fill a box, the less durable it is. Plus, it makes the box heavier overall. You also don’t want to skimp out on packing tape and bubble wrap so make sure you have plenty of those. You can always give any leftovers away once you’ve moved into your new place.

2Use specialty boxes
standard boxes are great for basic items, but for more fragile items consider specialized boxes. There are some specifically designed for glassware, dishes, paintings, and so on.

3Pack early
So many people leave packing to the last minute which makes the process more stressful than it needs to be. Start as early as possible and spend a little time each day packing away your things. You should start with lesser used rooms or areas of your house first and then move on to the necessities the day before your move.

4Make a detailed inventory
Whether you’re moving yourself or using NJ Great Movers basic moving service, it’s always a good idea to create an inventory of everything you are taking with you. Either write or take pictures of their condition and keep both an online and hard copy version. It will make it easier for you to see if something is damaged or missing.

5Wrap all fragile and sharp items
You can buy bubble wrap and packing paper, but you can also go with a more DIY solution of using blankets, clothes, towels, junk mail, etc. The downside is that if something breaks you’ll have to deal with broken ceramic or glass shards in your clothes and sheets

6Leave your clothes in drawers and on hangers
there’s no reason for you to take your clothes out of dressers. Instead, make sure to wrap up the dresser with plastic wrap so the drawers don’t open during the move. For clothes on a hanger, keep them there! We give you two free wardrobe box rentals which should take care of the most delicate items. If there are still clothes that don’t fit, put them in a box on the hangers so you don’t have to deal with sorting out separate boxes.
