Moving to Salem
Not to be confused with Salem, MA, Salem County, New Jersey is the westernmost county in New Jersey and is part of the South Jersey region and within the Philadelphia metro area. Despite its proximity to a major city, it is the least populous county in New Jersey. It’s a perfect option if you want some privacy and quiet.
While the population might be small, there’s actually a lot of fun activities to do in Salem. Enjoy some fresh produce at Cowtown Farmers Market. This year round indoor/outdoor farmers and flea market has been in operation since 1926. You can buy some food, fresh veggies, alongside other items like jewelry, tools, flowers, and more. After that, you can enjoy the Cowtown Rodeo.
There’s a lot of lovely spots to check out including a cute winery and farm that also has live music and an art gallery on site. And speaking of art, every year the Salem Community College hosts a Flameworking Conference, which showcases glass-working processes. If you’re more of a history person, check out the Abel and Mary Nicolson House or Hancock House, both of which are excellent examples of an 18th century brick house.
