You’ve probably heard of local and long-distance moves, but what the heck are mid-distance moves? As the name suggests, these are moves that are a bit further than the standard 50 miles for a local move but under the 400 to be considered truly long-distance. In a state like New Jersey which is 150 miles long and 70 miles wide, a move within the state could easily count as a mid-distance move if you’re moving from the northern tip near NYC to the southern region which is closer to Philadelphia.
Luckily, NJ Great Movers is experienced with moves of all types including mid-distance moves. Unlike other companies that would charge you a flat rate for these moves, which can often be costly since it’s based on the total weight of your items as well as distance, we charge an hourly rate which means you can save on these shorter mid-distance NJ moves.
If you’re looking to make a mid-distance move then NJ Great Movers is one of the best companies in the industry to help you with whatever moving needs you have. Working with us means that:
You have the objection to opt for full valuation for a reasonable fee based on the weight of your belongings. Or if you don’t have anything too valuable, we also offer free partial valuation which protects your belongings for $0.60 per pound per item.

Plastic bin rentals
Moving supplies
We offer flexible pricing for our various services and can find ways to fit with your budget. For example, for our packing option you can choose either the full-service option where we will do all the work for you or, for a more affordable option, you can do partial packing where we’ll handle a specific room(s) or areas in your home. Similarly, for plastic bin rentals, you can choose a package from us or just rent one or two. Give us a call and let us know what you need and we’ll find a way to help.
If everything looks good, we’ll draw up a contract. Once that’s signed, leave the rest to us. If you’re moving from or to an apartment building that requires a certificate of insurance, let us know. We will work with the landlord to provide all the necessary information and schedule the use of the elevators and/or freight entrance. Besides that, we’ll assign the crew for your move and let you know a few days in advance when you can expect them to arrive based on your preferred time. Should there be any issues that would make us late, we’ll let you know so you’re always in the loop.
Once the day has arrived, we make everything as easy as possible for you. We’ll do all the heavy lifting for you and provide any day of services such as packing and/or storage. We pride ourselves in our open communication so we’ll be in touch throughout the entire process whether that’s letting you know about any delays or issues or giving you the number of the foreman so you can reach out directly.
Once you’ve arrived at your new home, check your inventory to make sure you have all the boxes. If anything’s missing, let us know as soon as possible. Similarly, it’s a good idea to unpack your fragile items as soon as possible to make sure nothing was broken in transit. If there is any damage, take pictures and file your claim. If everything looks good and the move went smoothly, sign the bill of lading and make your final payment. Don’t forget to tip if your movers did a good job!
