Moving to Passaic
Passaic might not be the most popular New Jersey county, but it is seeing a slow rise in population year over year. While not quite as close to NYC as Hudson, Passaic County is still considered part of the New York metro area, and you can easily commute to NYC via the NJ Transit trains and buses.
As a suburban county, what Passaic lacks in major attractions they make up for in cute locations and activities. For you horse lovers, Passaic is home to an equestrian center that provides training, boarding, and lessons. You can even take the horses on walks in the nearby Garret Mountain Reservation. Even if you’re not a horse person, the Garret Mountain Reservation is a great place to get some fresh air as it has plenty of hiking and bike trails to explore.
History buffs rejoice as there are some lovely sites dotted around the area. You can check out Dey Mansion, a preserved house of the Dey Family whose home played an important role as George Washington’s Headquarters in the summer and fall of 1780. Or go to Clifton Museum which is located within the historic Vreeland House and be teleported to the early 19th century.
However, what many residents appreciate about Passaic is its access to green spaces. There are multiple parks where you can enjoy the great outdoors. Paterson Great Falls National History Park has, as you might expect, a beautiful waterfall. If you want a more curated experience, check out the New Jersey Botanical Garden to enjoy different types of gardens and plants.
